When I was 19 years old, Colin Raye sang a song asking whether we would accept Jesus if he came back as a homeless man or a premature baby.
What if Jesus comes back like that
On an old freight train in a hobo hat
Will we let him in or turn our back?
The song got my attention thirty years ago, because at the time I didn’t know it was possible to publicly stand up for homeless people AND new mothers AND their babies AND Christian values. Now in 2025, as the poor and unborn still need our love, we have the American Solidarity Party to defend the dignity of all human beings and respect religious freedom. As we prepare to celebrate the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, let’s not hesitate to redirect our families away from divisive mainstream politics and point out this alternative, which finds common ground by promoting the common good of all people.
